Whatisa
portfolio
An artist's portfolio is a collection of an artist's best artwork with the intention to showcase their style or method of work.
A portfolio is used by artists to show clients and employers or in this case a teacher, the entirety of your artwork during the academic year.
Historically, portfolios were presented in a printed form but with the increased use of the internet, Web Portfolios are now recommended to reach wider audiences more readily, or in situations that don't allow easy travel or that require social distancing.
ASSIGNMENT
You will build and design a Web portfolio using online tools found at WIX.com.
IMPORTANT: BEFORE YOU CLICK, follow the 21 steps BUILDING YOU PORTFOLIO LOCATED BELOW to create your own web portfolio. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS on you site:
1) Your name and section
2) A short description about yourself (3 sentences minimum)
3) A gallery to insert your artwork
4) Send your website address to your teacher by email (jeanmarc.duchesne@cscree.qc.ca)
Do expect to spend some time designing it. A single-page website may take you between 30-90 minutes depending on your learning curve and how elaborate you make your design. It is also good to do a first draft design and later come back to improve your design. Most of all, have fun and make in a way that expresses your interests and how you want viewers to see you as an artist.
Now, SCROLL DOWN to view and read all the information below before you begin designing.
